Exhibition 2025: Dubuffet and the magicians – Singular expressions 1945-2000

Immerse yourself in the teeming universe of Jean Dubuffet and his contemporaries with a guided tour of the 2025 exhibition. A major figure of the post-war period, Dubuffet introducedArt Brut, a movement freed from traditional codes, which he exhibited widely while developing a radically innovative pictorial style.

At the same time, the CoBrA movement broke away from abstraction to reinvent raw, instinctive artistic expression. In the 1950s, Michel Tapié, an art critic and close associate of Dubuffet, formalized the notion of “art autre”, advocating a form of creation freed from convention, almost parallel to the real world.

This effervescence gave birth to unique works by marginal, visionary or unclassifiable artists, who would go on to shape contemporary art for a long time to come.
