The proposed experience

In 1834, Alphonse Denis, then mayor of Hyères, used his own funds to finance the construction of a small Italian-style theater. His goal was to contribute to the development of winter tourism through an ambitious cultural policy.

After Alphonse Denis’s death, the city acquired the theater around 1880 and continued to promote its cultural influence. During this tour, your guide will share the history of this iconic building, its evolution over time, and the role it plays in the cultural life of Hyères.
