The proposed experience

Founded by the Greeks around 325 BCE, the fortified city of Olbia—whose name means “the blessed one”—was an important maritime port of call. Located on a gentle promontory by the sea, it is today the only surviving example, preserved in its entirety, of a network of Greek fortress-colonies founded by Marseille beginning in the 4th century BCE.
During this self-guided tour, equipped with your visitor guide, you’ll wander freely through the archaeological park. The walk is punctuated by stations that help you understand the city’s urban evolution over nearly 1,000 years.
The unearthed remains reveal a fully developed urban layout: fortifications, streets equipped with sewers and sidewalks, a communal well, residential blocks divided into houses and shops, thermal baths, sanctuaries, and the remains of a medieval abbey. A discovery that is both historical and scenic, accessible to all.
