A must for Toulon, the Faron cable car takes you to the top of the city’s iconic mountain. Aboard the red cabin, you’ll enjoy extensive views of the hills, harbor, Mediterranean and islands in just a few minutes. On arrival, the Mémorial du Débarquement en Provence is just a few dozen meters away. Thanks to an immersive scenography, this place of remembrance retraces the progress of the Allies and the liberation of Provence in 1944. Day by day, the major stages of this major episode in history are highlighted. The Memorial is one of the Ministry of Defense’s 9 “hauts lieux de la mémoire nationale”. The visit can be complemented by a stroll along the Faron paths or a picnic break, while enjoying 360° panoramic views.
