Between Toulon and Hyères, La Garde and Le Pradet are unmissable for their embodiment of the many facets of Provencal nature and culture. Flower-filled lanes, unspoilt nature, a park to stroll through, a church in the center of the village, Côte-de-Provence vineyards, a beach and a small port: in just one day, you’ll be speaking with the accent.
We suggest…
Climb to La Garde rock
La Garde is a surprisingly small town: while for many Varois it’s inseparable from the University and the department’s largest shopping area, it’s undoubtedly a rich nature destination. To see for yourself, climb to the top of the rock overlooking the old town and take in the view. After wending your way through a maze of Provençal alleyways, on a beautifully landscaped platform of olive and cypress trees, your gaze takes in the rooftops, of course, but also Mount Coudon (La Valette), the Colle Noire massif (Le Pradet), Mount Fenouillet (La Crau) and, below, a vast plain planted with reeds, oaks and other olive trees: this is Le Plan’s nature area.
