Film legends

Whether they hail from Provence Méditerranée or have left their mark on our cinematic heritage through the power of their characters, many legends of the 7th Art have become emblems of our destination. From Raimu to Mireille Darc, from Pierrot le Fou to the strange Monsieur Victor, they all contribute to the influence of French cinema, and continue to nourish the collective imagination, as well as the pride of the locals.

Mythical film sets

From the most famous productions to current TV series and movies, Provence Méditerranée remains the preferred location for filmmakers. Anna Karina and Jean-Paul Belmondo on La Treille beach in Porquerolles in Pierrot le Fou, Enzo’s spectacular arrival at the Port du Niel in The Big Blue or the marvelous corniche in An Ideal Man with Pierre Niney: the region’s landscapes and natural settings masterfully bring to life the characters and stories portrayed on the big screen.

Cinema festivals

Throughout the year, film festivals in the Provence Méditerranée region pay tribute to diversity and artistic commitment. The Porquerolles Film Festival celebrates films on ecology and biodiversity, while Fimé brings silent films back to life, accompanied by live music. The Cinéma en liberté and Films courts Côté Sud festivals embody values of solidarity and sharing, as does the Femmes! festival, which spotlights female talent through poignant films and pertinent debates.
