Visit to Fort Sainte-Agathe and the Bonheur mill

Following an itinerary of several exhibition rooms, including the permanent exhibition ” Porquerolles, an island to live “, the tour covers various themes in keeping with the island’s heritage and the values of the national park: the architecture of Fort Sainte-Agathe, the history of the island of Porquerolles, the island’s flora and fauna, and the missions of the national park. Olbia archaeological site

Situated on a slight promontory by the sea, Olbia is the only surviving example, preserved in its entirety, of a network of Greek fortress-colonies founded by Marseilles from the 4th century BC onwards.
Citizens of Marseilles, the first Olbians were soldier-colonists, fishermen and farmers, whose main mission was to secure maritime trade.
The remains uncovered allow visitors to understand theurban evolution of an ancient city over 1000 years. Fortifications, streets with sewers and sidewalks, collective wells, housing blocks divided into houses, stores, baths, sanctuaries…
The remains of a medieval abbey, Saint-Pierre de l’Almanarre, have also been discovered on the site.
