Visit the Pradeau fort

Hyères

Fort du Pradeau, better known as the Tour Fondue, is located at the southern tip of the Giens peninsula.

A 17th-century historic monument designed to protect the Hyères roadstead, the fort was abandoned and then closed to the public for several decades.
Following major restoration, development and enhancement work undertaken since late 2020 as part of the Grand Site operation, the fort is once again open to the public, enabling as many people as possible to discover the natural maritime and terrestrial spaces, Mediterranean biodiversity and historical heritage of the Port-Cros and Porquerolles National Park.

It thus becomes the Park’s interpretation center, providing key information on the territory and explaining its missions, while promoting the educational aspect of the environment.

Through the various rooms of the fort, the public can discover 400 years of history thanks to a guided scenography that “makes the invisible visible”: submerged heritage, hidden sites, know-how, human memories…
