In Toulon, as in the rest of Provence, water has always been considered a precious but capricious commodity. What remains of this long history, and of the work of men to harness and distribute it to all, are the fountains.
Rich or humble, adorned by the greatest sculptors or conquered by vegetation, discreet or surprising, used by washerwomen or installed to “fight against drunkenness”, they all tell a story.
