Nestled around its harbor, Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer has preserved its maritime heritage (traditional “pointus” boats cohabit with pleasure craft) and preserved its fishing village soul.
From the earliest Christian times in Provence, to Bonaparte’s defense of the harbor during the French Revolution and the Egyptian campaign, you’ll discover the ancient islet of Cépet, and the history of the site of the Royal Navy’s Lazaret.
From the gardens of the Nécropole Nationale, famous figures and ordinary soldiers take you back in time to the Mediterranean conflicts of the First World War and the 1944 D-Day landings in the Mediterranean.
