Toulon Vaa
The practice of Polynesian pirogue in France dates back more than 28 years, with the creation of a Va'a section in 1987 at the heart of the "Poe Ma'ohi" cultural association, making Toulon the cradle of Va'a activity in mainland France.
On March 15, 1997, the "Association Sportive de Pirogues Polynésiennes Ruahatu Va'a" was created, and its name was changed on January 25, 2015 to the "Association Sportive de Pirogues Polynésiennes Toulon Va'a".
"Toulon Va'a" is an association recognized as being of general interest, governed by the law of 1901, which has set itself the following missions in its articles of association:
- To practice Polynesian pirogue racing on the high seas and at high speed.
- To organize and develop the practice of canoeing, kayaking and associated disciplines.
- Contribute to the preservation and protection of the marine environment necessary for its practice.
