Original Porquerolles triathlon

The TOP: Triathlon Original de Porquerolles, is a triathlon with a totally original format: the Tri X Natura: race in teams of 2, over 3 events, including a bike & run section:
- 1.5 km sea swim (2 loops of 750m in the sea)
- 31 km Bike & Run (one mountain bike for 2)
- 12.2 km trail run
...in an exceptional setting: the island of Porquerolles, in the heart of the Port-Cros National Park.

The Half TOP is an identical two-person team race, but over shorter distances:
- 750 m relay* swim
- 20 km Bike & Run (one mountain bike for 2)
- 8.7 km trail run

*each team member completes a 750 m loop in turn

The first edition took place in September 2012. It's the culmination of a process that began several years ago. The race was the brainchild of its creator, Fabien de Ganay. A former executive at Canal+ and a top-level sportsman (French Military Pentathlon team, 8 Gauloises raids to his credit...), Fabien de Ganay wanted to combine a sporting race with the ethics of an eco-citizen event, which is dear to his philosophy.

Around this recognized sporting event, the triathlon aims to be "Original" for the cause it wishes to defend: sustainable development. Each year, part of the registration fee is donated to an association supporting this cause.
It's up to competitors to grasp the strength and ethics of this cause!
