Venice, 15th century. Otello, a Moorish general at the height of his glory, falls prey to the treacherous Iago, who orchestrates his downfall by convincing him that Desdemona, his wife, is betraying him with Cassio, one of his lieutenants. Consumed by blind jealousy, he commits an irreparable act before discovering, too late, that she was innocent.
