Imagined by Sofiane Saidi, this creation project is a strong artistic gesture, placing Algerian music at the heart of a contemporary dialogue between the shores of the Mediterranean. Rooted in raï and in the heritage of the medahates—traditional female celebratory and oral transmission songs—this work celebrates a living memory that is free and constantly evolving.
An emblematic figure of modern raï, Sofiane Saidi carries this project through his distinctive voice and repertoire, symbols of freedom, cultural blending, and circulation. Alongside him, Camélia Jordana, an artist acclaimed by both the general public and the most demanding stages, brings a radiant and assertive presence. Their encounter unfolds as a refined musical dialogue, built on duets and resonances, where voices respond to each other with elegance and intensity, affirming the essential place of women in this musical history.
The strings of Théo Ceccaldi and Valentin Ceccaldi—violin and cello—enrich the creation with an expressive and contemporary writing, between heritage and modernity. Keyboards and drums anchor the ensemble in a current rhythmic energy, infused with electronic influences.
Designed as a moment of sharing and collective celebration, this creation offers a symbolic and unifying opening of the Mediterranean Season. Between refined aesthetics, strong stage presence, and contemporary momentum, music here becomes a common language, a vector of dialogue, transmission, and shared emotion.
Papatef is a true one-man band, performing simultaneously on percussion, drum machines, turntables, and vocals. He will take you into a trance within minutes. Well known to audiences for his collaborations with Vincent Segal, M, and Gotan Project, he will have you dancing all night long!
