Born in Budapest and a naturalized French citizen, Almasy traveled the world for more than fifty years. A traveling photographer with a keen eye for faces, gestures, and human landscapes, he blazed a new trail in 20th-century photography—less experimental than Man Ray’s, yet just as attuned to the world’s diversity.
A common thread links the two exhibitions. In 1961, Almasy photographed Man Ray in his studio on Rue Férou. These images, featured in the main exhibition, engage here in a dialogue with the Hungarian photographer’s entire body of work and serve as a reminder that photography is also an art of movement and encounter
