Exhibition - Fashion and Textiles 2026: "Precious Stories"

"Fashion & Textiles 2026" explores both famous and anonymous talents and showcases forgotten artisanal techniques and opulent sartorial practices, often reflecting an elite that dictated fashion trends. These small pieces of fabric—sometimes precious—which, let me remind you, cling to the skin, illustrate the ceremonial rites that marked the lives of people from another era.

This exhibition offers you glimpses of a fragile history through the meticulous reconstruction of a puzzle or a patchwork. It takes you on a journey through space and time, where the common thread of textiles and fashion serves as a lens through which to understand our past and shed light on the present.

This year, the geographical scope is broader than usual. We begin at the shores of the Mediterranean, the cradle of civilizations, and extend to the European nations of the modern era. We thus journey from the Western humanist dream to the 18th-century conquests of the New World—namely, those that led to the birth of the United States of America. So we’re heading to Provence, in France, of course, but also to Portugal, England, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany—and then… to the United States of America through General Lafayette!
