*The Army of Shadows* is a Franco-Italian film directed by Jean-Pierre Melville and released in 1969. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Joseph Kessel, published in 1943.
In October 1942, Philippe Gerbier is interned in a French camp and then transferred to the Gestapo headquarters at the Hôtel Majestic in Paris. He escapes by killing a sentry. In Marseille, he is tasked—along with Félix and Le Bison—with executing Doinot, who betrayed them.
