The Vauban Gate

Toulon

The gate was built between 1686 and 1701 by André Boyer, the King's architect, to plans drawn up by Vauban.

This was the first building to be constructed in the new dock, as part of the expansion of Toulon's fortified enclosure and arsenal. The cost of the work was 95,000 livres.
