The house of heads

Toulon

Toulon's Maison des Têtes was a five-storey building built in the 18th century and located on the Place à l'Huile. It was so named because of the bronze mascarons adorning the window lintels.

In 1989, an explosion almost completely destroyed the 5 storeys of the Maison des Têtes, a building located at the corner of Place à l'Huile and Place de la Poissonnerie, in Toulon's old town center, behind the town hall and a hundred meters from the marina. Rocks and debris were thrown over a distance of more than 50 meters, shattering windows and storefronts in the vicinity.
