Sentier de randonnée du Gros Cerveau

Ollioules

Hill topped by the Fort du Gros-Cerveau, overlooking the bay of Sanary to the south with a panorama stretching from La Ciotat to the Giens peninsula. To the north, on the east side, view of the sandstone of Sainte-Anne chiselled by time.

THE COURSE:
1. At a large stone erected reminiscent of a menhir, leave the barrier on the right, take the path immediately on the left bordering the sports course. At the crow's-foot turn left and cross the footbridge, then immediately turn left into a draille. At the junction of a track, turn right, follow the Esquières valley as a balcony until you reach the crow's feet.
2. 2. Take a path on the right (sign Sanary Randonneur), ignore the path departures on the left, go down a steep, very stony section, then go up some steep, stony slopes (small rocks), and reach an intersection.
Take the rising layon on the right and arrive on the D 20; take it on the left for 800 m. Arriving at a crossroads.
4. Turn right, go through the barrier, take the w464 track (direction "le Fort") which goes up to the disused Gros Cerveau structure. Continue until you reach the orientation table at the end of the esplanade.
=> Panoramic view from the Sainte Baume to the Giens peninsula.
Continue and join the GR 51.
5. Go back on your steps (common GR51®) and turn left. Cross the wooden footbridge, go 150m.
Take on the left the stony path which goes down (steeply) in laces and becomes a layon. At the signpost (attention, minefield, telephone) continue. At the intersection. Turn right on the path going up, reach the road that you take on the left for 200m.
6. 6. At the cistern, leave the road, take the track on the left, until the intersection. Take the path on the left that goes down and joins the road. Turn left, pass the barrier and take the asphalt track.
7. 7. Before the reservoir, turn left into the path that goes around the station of the Canal de Provence de Hugueneuve. End up on the D2020, cross it and find the starting car park.
