Route 1: Geological Walk

Starting point: Quai Saint-Pierre, Le Brusc
End point: Bonnegrâce Beach (Port de la Méditerranée)

A few tricky sections. Use the detour route via the D616 between Rayolet Beach and Port de la Coudoulière, as well as near Parc de la Méditerranée.

[2022 Edition]

1) Take the trail from the Le Brusc roundabout. Walk past the fountain to find the path that leads to the old fishermen’s houses.

2) You’ll cross a gravel beach. You’ll pass by a restaurant’s terrace. Walk along a second beach of fine sand. Continue to the end and turn left. You’ll arrive at a small gravel cove.

3) From there, take the stairs on your left, then turn left again. You’ll arrive at a housing development lined with tamarisk trees.

4) From the Rayolet Parc residence, you can continue the walk toward the Port de la Coudoulière.
Heading north, you can also take the trail on your left that crosses the beach, allowing you to admire the coves and the panoramic view between the Carabinier and Vieille Batterie headlands.

[Caution] Due to coastal erosion, you’ll need to retrace your steps to reach Port de la Coudoulière. You’ll cross a parking lot and then walk along a path overlooking several coves until you reach Port de la Coudoulière. Along the way, you’ll come across the spring cucumber. Its green fruit resembles a cucumber.
[Be careful] If you squeeze it, it can “explode in your face”; its sap is highly toxic and dangerous to the eyes.

5) Cross the Parc de la Méditerranée to take a break and visit the Cap Nègre battery, then return through the park to rejoin the bypass route via the D616.
Inside, this battery houses a temporary exhibition space dedicated to local maritime activity and the military history of this former fortification. You’ll notice that the
Cap Nègre battery is located on the headland of the same name. This land promontory features unusual geology along the Crystal Coast. There you’ll find traces of lava flows characteristic of Evenos volcanism. It is the brown volcanic rock that gave the area its name.

6) Continue along the trail to Bonnegrâce Beach via the Sauviou coastal road; you’ll come across sea fennel along the way.

Return via the same route.
