Place Puget

Built on the site of the old wheat market, in the 18th century the square became the fodder market and was renamed Place au Foin.
After various names, including Place des Trois Dauphins in 1861, it was finally renamed Place Puget in 1869.

The original fountain, embellished by Gaspard Puget in 1649, was replaced by a large circular basin in 1780,
The three dolphins with their intertwined tails are the work of Chastel,
Nestling in the shade of tall plane trees, the first hotels to be built on this square were home to Dumas, Flaubert, Hugo and Sand.
