WRECK HISTORY...
The Tromblon was a propeller-driven gunboat commissioned in Toulon in 1875. Its only war record was its participation in the Tunisian campaign in July and August 1881. Following this, the Tromblon returned to Toulon, where it was never used again. On August 13, 1898, it was proposed as an exercise target, and on October 21 of the same year it was driven into Anse des Sablettes. Two of the eight 240 mm shells fired at it from the Peyras battery hit it, putting an end to its short career.
