Le Grand Hôtel

Toulon

Built between 1868 and 1869, the Grand Hôtel on the north side of Place de la Liberté was designed by architect Jacques.

Requisitioned by the occupying forces during WW2, it was transformed into a Préfecture Marine in 1944. After housing apartments, it closed its doors for good in 1997.

A landmark of Toulon, the former Grand Hôtel building is now home to the Théâtre Liberté, directed by Charles and Philippe Berling, since its inauguration in September 2011.
