Since December 7, 2010, the Coudon has been classified as a protected site, forever prohibiting any construction in this natural setting. This classification is the result of a long "battle" waged by the association Les Amis du Coudon and La Ville, and is celebrated every autumn during a day of walks bringing together all lovers of the Valletta mountains...
Les Amis du Coudon: an association that works...
The 7,000-hectare site is closely supervised by the association's 100 or so volunteers. Since 1992, they have created the Conservatoire de l'olivier (olive tree conservatory) and host an integration project that has restored the restanques on the site.
They have also supported the creation of a Syndicat intercommunal à vocation unique (SIVU), responsible for obtaining the classification of the Coudon as a protected natural area.
