Federation Fountain
Toulon
At the center of the Place de la Liberté in Hausman's upper town stands the Fountain of the Federation, designed by the Allar brothers in 1870.

Completed in 1870, the fountain features a monumental group of sculptures at its center.
At the center of the large oval basin, embellished with cascades and water jets, stand 3 statues: Liberty, standing on a pedestal marked with the initials RF; flanked on the left by a male figure symbolizing Strength; and on the right by a female figure representing Justice. All three are seated on an antique-style ship's prow, its rostrum adorned with a garland of flowers. At either end, sea horses rise from the waves, ridden by putti.
