One of the first schools built in the Var department after the enactment of the Jules Ferry School Acts of 1881 and 1882.
The Anatole France school was designed by Charles Maurel, director of works for the city of Toulon, and Edouard Angeli, director of works for the city of Hyères.
The program was highly original, reversing the usual layout by placing the school buildings at the center of the composition and the playground around them.
The building is not open to the public.
