Coastal path from Tour Royale to Anse Magaud
Toulon
Clinging to the cliffs, this path offers one of the finest views of Toulon harbor, the Giens peninsula, Cap de Carqueiranne and Saint-Mandrier.
Route 7: In the Footsteps of Smugglers
Starting point: Tour Royale, Mourillon Beach, Port Saint-Louis, Quai Bellerive
End point: Anse Magaud
[2022 Edition]
1) From the Royal Tower, make your way from cove to cove to reach Mitre Beach.
2) Stop at the information board that traces the harbor’s evolution over the centuries. Enjoy the panoramic view.
3) The trail will lead you to Port Saint-Louis. There are two possible routes:
a) During the summer, we recommend taking the shaded Henri Fabre promenade to reach Anse Tabarly and rejoin the coastal trail.
b) Outside the summer season, walk along the waterfront to the last cove, which connects to the coastal trail (landmark: the Toulon Yacht Club).
4) Since the coastal trail is closed shortly after the water sports center, take the stairs on your left to cross the Petit Bois Departmental Sensitive Natural Area and reach the Charles de Gaulle Corniche.
5) Continue to your right and take Chemin Lieutenant Aviateur Paul Gueyraud, then descend the steep stairs to explore the coastline.
If you wish to continue the route toward Cap Brun and to bypass the landslides near the Cap Brun residence, take those same stairs back up and rejoin
the Corniche to follow the signposted route that will lead you to Chemin de la Batterie Basse.
Take the particularly steep stairs to reach Vieux Moulin Beach on your right or Cap Brun via the trail restored in 2021 on your left.
6) Continue the walk to Anse Magaud via Anse Méjean. From the Batterie Basse parking lot, follow the road until you reach the parking lot serving the Notre-Dame de Cap Falcon Chapel, which will allow you to descend to Anse Méjean.
7) After this short stop, you can head to Anse Magaud. At the end of Anse Méjean, take the path on your left between two walls, then turn right at No. 367. Follow a small path downhill to Anse Magaud.
8) Head back up the small paved road to reach the Charles de Gaulle Corniche, lined with beautiful villas in this quiet neighborhood, until you reach the starting point at Port Saint-Louis.
