Circuit des crêtes de Port-Cros
A steep path offering some magnificent views of the island's south coast.
From the Maison de Parc, walk along the harbour and, at the first opportunity, turn left to reach the Chapelle Saint-Tropez. Go around it, then find the path below and continue along the seafront.
At the crossroads, climb the steps to pass the statue of St. Joseph, then turn left on the downhill path and continue to the Maison aux Vaches crossroads.
At Maison aux Vaches, turn right, then fork directly left to take the ridge path via Vallon de la Solitude. Just after skirting the dam and crossing the stream, turn right up the Vallon de la Solitude.
Climb the steep Vallon de la Sollitude path until you reach the "Les Crêtes" sign, then turn right to reach Mont Vinaigre, always following its direction.
Reach Mont Vinaigre, the island's highest point at 194 m, enjoy the view, then retrace your steps and turn left at the next crow's-foot towards Pointe du Cognet.
Arrive at the intersection facing the sea, at the signpost "repère 14", and retrace your steps to Pointe du Cognet. Return to the signpost and follow the signs for Plage du Sud.
Once you've passed the ruined Antinéa building, turn left at the next sign to return to Pointe de la Malalongue. On the way back, you may wish to stop off at Plage du Sud for a swim.
At the next junction after the beach, continue left, always following the signs for the village.
Reach the statue of St. Joseph, then descend the staircase back to the village.
