Cathédrale Notre-Dame de la Seds (Sainte -Marie).

Toulon

Discover Toulon Cathedral, located in the heart of the old town! Its mix of styles, the result of a 17th-century extension, makes it unique. It's also the seat of the Toulon diocese, founded in the 5th century.

In the 5th century, Toulon had a bishopric and a cathedral. In 1096, Count Gilbert built a Romanesque church corresponding to the first three bays of today's cathedral. The choir is that of the Saint-Joseph chapel. To enlarge the church, bays were added to the north, integrating the 15th-century chapel of relics. The present cathedral was built in 1654, using the three naves of the old church.
