Télégraphe de chappe
Ollioules
Developed by the engineer Claude Chappe (1763-1805), the aerial telegraph or optical telegraph, used solely for military and political purposes, had at its peak 534 stations spread over 5000 km across Europe.

Ollioules is lucky enough to have a remnant of the Paris-Toulon line on the Croupatier.
