Le Castel is a villa built in the fanciful Romanesque style by Olivier Voutier, the discoverer of the Venus de Milo. He is buried in the garden. The American novelist Edith Wharton lived here from 1927 to 1937. Today, it is the headquarters of the Parc National de Port-Cros.
The terraced garden has lost much of the personality that Edith Wharton gave it, but still offers some beautiful scenes with a very Mediterranean character. With a surface area of 6,500 m², it is located close to the Parc Saint-Bernard on the heights of the town, with a breathtaking view over the Hyères harbor. A pedestrian path links the two gardens.
