How can one find meaning in life when it no longer has any? What if, sometimes, all it takes is to walk through a door? A man in his fifties recalls knocking on the door of Nora Baldini, a young dance teacher, a few years earlier. He’s not a dancer—not at all. He’s actually quite uncomfortable in his own skin. Other than that? He’s doing fine: responsibilities, success, money… But why on earth did he knock on that door? Why put up with that discomfort, that mirror of his weaknesses? What was he looking for, and what will he find along the way?
Cliff Paillé’s writing, always surprising, unfolds a procession of humor, surprises, and tenderness—always steering clear of the clichéd and trite—and delivers a most welcome plot twist. From now on, nothing will ever be the same.
